Mike King here. I want to welcome you to iPullRank (“iPR”) and tell you a bit about how and why this company exists.
After working for five different agencies, I felt the agency model was (and still is) broken and I could do a better job at delivering innovative work that drives results. Experiencing so many different models, from large network agencies to boutique shops, it was clear that I could make a few tweaks and offer a better product to the marketplace. In April of 2014, I put my theory to the test and the market reacted accordingly.
When 2015 rolled around, I realized that I really wanted a strong team to work with. To be clear, I didn’t want them to work for me, but with me. I also wanted that team to innovate and create things beyond what can be done in the agency-client relationship. The same way Google has 20% time, I wanted to build a team that spends some portion of its time working on projects of our own creation and develops companies from the ground up.
More importantly, I wanted that team to feel supported day-in and day-out. Agencies I worked at didn’t seem to value the people on those teams and also didn’t seem to create opportunities for employees to do their best work. It was really all about maintaining the status quo and not disrupting too many things. That didn’t work for me.
When I looked to build that team, I knew that I always wanted us to be oriented around the best idea. I don’t care where it comes from. It can be an intern or a janitor, a strategist or a VP. I don’t care. It most certainly does not have to come from me. I just want to always be doing work that we’re all PROUD of.
Make no mistake, iPR is not a startup. iPR is a small business. And, we are PROUD of the work that we do. While we do many things in the digital marketing category, we’re best known for our contributions to the SEO and Content Strategy subsets of the industry. Within that industry, we have developed a reputation for innovation, creativity and technical acumen, but our journey is just beginning.
We’re built on the back of my years of thought leadership. By the same token, we encourage and support your contributing to our thought leadership through sharing innovative tactics that you discover through blogging, video content and speaking as well.
But let’s crystalize the mission and vision a bit before we talk more about that.
